MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Cornell sprint football team edged Mansfield, 23-15, in front of 2,200 fans at Van Norman Field in Mansfield, Pa. With the win, the Big Red improves its winning streak against the Mounties to five straight games.
Quarterback
Elliot Corey led the offense, completing 12-of-19 passes for 124 yards, while rushing 12 times for a total of 33 yards. He also accounted for one touchdown through the air and on the ground. Doug Famularo led the ground attack with 20 carries for 95 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and one touchdown.
Defensively, Cornell was led by Tim Dooley's eight tackles, while Clay Hemminger had five tackles, tallied two interceptions, which he returned for 38 yards, and forced one fumble.
As a team, the Big Red rushed for 199 yards, while holding the Mounties to just 59 yards on the ground. Cornell also threw for 200 yards.
Cornell is back in action next weekend as it travels to Princeton on Friday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m
