Early Goal Hands Cornell First Ivy Loss With 1-0 Defeat At Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A goal by Columbia's Ashlin Yahr in the eighth minute was enough as the Cornell women's soccer team fell in a defensive struggle at Columbia, 1-0, on Friday evening. The Big Red slipped to 3-4 (0-1 Ivy) with the defeat, while Columbia moved to 6-2 (1-0 Ivy).

Megan Bartlett made three saves in goal in the loss, while Maneesha Chitanvis squeezed of four shots, including two on goals. The Lions held a 16-7 edge in shots in the contest and were powered by Lillian Klein's four saves in picking up the shutout.

Cornell returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. against Manhattan.
