Game 1 Box Score (Cornell 3, Bucknell 0)
Game 2 Box Score (George Mason 7, Cornell 6 - 9 innings)

FAIRFAX, Va. -- For the second weekend in a row, the Cornell softball team posted a shutout in game one, then dropped a nightcap in the bottom of the final frame, this time kncking off reigning Patrio League champion Bucknell 3-0 in game one before falling to host George Mason, 7-6 in nine innings. The Big Red moved to 2-2 and will complete day two of the George Mason Invitational tomorrow when it meets Bucknell at 9 a.m., then Binghamton at 11:15 a.m.

Senior pitcher Elizabeth Dalrymple, the two-time Ivy League Pitcher of the Year, shut down Bucknell in the first game of the weekend, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits in a complete game shutout. She punched out each of the first eight hitters and moved into second place on the school's career strikeout list, surpassing Jenn Meunier (449) and ending the day with 457. She is now just 23 shy of Cornell Hall of Famer Julie Westbrock, who struck out 480 in her four-year career.

Cornell was able to scrape together a run in the third in large part due to Amiraian's speed. She tripled to center with one out, then scored on a popout to short to make it 1-0. The Big Red added to the lead in the fourth with power, as sophomore Kristen Towne slammed her first home run of the season with a solo shot to left to make it 2-0. Jenny Edwards made it 3-0 in the fifth with an RBI single to score Erin Keene.

Edwards finished game one by going 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Towne slammed her first dinger of the year.

For the second weekend in a row, the host Patriots were able to score late to knock off the Big Red. After scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh last Sunday in a 2-1 win, this time it was a two-out RBI double by Katie Rynex to claim the 7-6 victory. Cornell had rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning to send the game into extra frames, with freshmen Lauren Bucolo and Christina Villalon each getting big RBI. Villalon's two-out single scored Marissa Amiraian to knot the game at 6-6.

Both Amiraian and freshman Sarah McCormack had three hits, with the rookie scoring twice and adding a double. Towne slammed her second home run of the season in the nightcap.
