Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 43 Brown, 5-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Big Red women's tennis team fell to No. 43 Brown, 5-2, this afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center in Providence, R.I. With the loss, Cornell slipped to 9-8 overall and 1-3 in the Ivy League while the Bears improve to 14-6 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

The Bears earned the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to take the early 1-0 lead and quickly stretched its advantage to 3-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Ryann Young got Cornell on the board with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot, but Brown victories at No. 4 and No. 6 sealed the win for the home team.

Christine Ordway wrapped up the scoring with a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 1, as she defeated Misia Krasowski; 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Cornell is back in action tomorrow, Sunday, April 10 as it travels to Yale to take on the No. 35 Bulldogs at the Cullman-Haymen Tennis Center at noon.
