ITHACA, N.Y. – Morgan Uceny '07 has been named the world's No. 1 runner in the 1500-meter distance in Track & Field News magazine's February issue.

Uceny, who won the Diamond League in 2011 and clocked the world's fastest time in the 1500 last year, is ranked No. 1 in the world for the first time in her career.

Uceny is one of just two Americans to crack the top 10 in the category, with Jenny Simpson holding the No. 3 spot in the world entering an Olympic year. Uceny I s the reigning U.S. outdoor 1500 champion, running the race in 4:03.91 in June. She lost in the World Championship in Daegu, South Korea in August, but she was favored in the race and was tripped by another runner.

Uceny was also ranked No. 7 in the world in the 800-meter race.
