Rowing Earns Three Medals At Head Of The Genesee

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In its first competition of the fall season, the Big Red rowing teams had a solid showing at the Head of the Genesee, earning three medals on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Genesee Waterways Center in Rochester, N.Y .

The women's first varsity eight won the silver in the Women's Open 8+ event, while the second varsity eight earned the bronze medal. The second varsity eight crew's time was affected by interference during  the head race.

In the Men's Open 8+, the Big Red heavyweight first varsity eight took home the silver medal with the Cornell B boat placing fourth overall. The Cornell D and C boats rounded out Cornell's performance with a fifth and seventh place finish, respectively.

Every year, the Head of the Genesee features a unique format where the winning times are determined by combining the results of the Head race (5000-meters) and the Sprint race (1500 meters).
