PRINCETON, N.J. – Owen Butler and Rishi Jalan continued their impressive seasons with victories at the Nos. 7 and 9 spots, respecitvely, on Friday, but the Big Red men's squash team couldn't shake off an early deficit in a 6-3 loss to Ivy League champion Princeton.
 
Butler topped Dylan Ward for his team-leading 14th victory of the season, while Jalan is now 9-0 in his matches at the bottom of the order. He defeated Jesus Pena in four games to give the visiting Big Red its lone point before the Tigers clinched the match.
 
Sixth-ranked Cornell (10-4, 3-3 Ivy League) endured a hard-luck start when Princeton's Tyler Osborne secured an injury default win over Aditya Jagtap at No. 3. Jalan's win kept Cornell's deficit to 2-1, but the next wave all went the Tigers' way to clinch a share of the league crown. Senior Thomas Spettigue accounted for Cornell's other point on Friday, defeating Kelly Shannon in four games at No. 4.
 
The Big Red returns home to wrap up its regular season with a doubleheader Sunday. At 11 a.m., the Ivy League schedule concludes with a visit from Penn, then a non-league match with Hobart follows at 2 p.m.
