ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's squash team concluded its regular season on Sunday by splitting a home doubleheader against Penn and William Smith at Belkin International Squash Courts. The Big Red fell to the Quakers, 7-2, before cruising past the Herons, 9-0.
 
Sophomore Laura Caty won both her matches on the day, defeating Penn's Lindsay Wong at the No. 9 spot in three games. She then moved up three spots in the order for the match against William Smith, topping Katherine Riordan, 11-1, 11-6, 11-3, at No. 6.
 
Freshman Danielle Letourneau won the Big Red's other match against the Quakers. She defeated Nabilla Ariffin, 11-9, 16-14, 11-6 at the No. 1 spot. Ariffin was ranked 12th in the country last year.
 
No match against the Herons went longer than the minimum three games, with the Big Red surrendering no more than 12 points in any match. Sophomore Kristen Scillia made her season debut at the No. 9 spot, beating Molly Doran, 11-2, 11-4, 11-2.
 
Cornell is 11-6 overall heading into the College Squash Association's National Championships from Feb. 24-26 in Cambridge, Mass. The Big Red is expected to be in the top-flight Howe Cup, where the nation's eight highest-ranked teams will play off for the national title. Cornell finished up 3-4 in the Ivy League – its best mark against the Ancient Eight under eighth-year head coach Julee Devoy.
