The men's tennis team will look to piece together a couple of wins this weekend in Virginia before starting its defense of the Ivy League title. The Big Red will take on Old Dominion at 2 p.m. Friday and Virginia Commonwealth at 11 a.m. Sunday to conclude the team's non-league portion of the schedule.
Cornell (7-9) is coming off its first home loss of the season, dropping a 5-2 match to Penn State on March 17. Freshmen

Danny Riggs won singles matches to account for the Big Red's points. The victory was Riggs' third in a row, and brings him into a tie with sophomore
Venkat Iyer and freshman
Alex Sidney for a team-high eight wins on the season. In doubles, Cornell continues to shuffle its lineup, having used 11 different tandems in 16 dual matches. Freshmen
Sam Fleck and Luu are 7-2 from the No. 2 spot.
Old Dominion comes into Friday's match with consecutive 4-3 victories over Navy on March 4 and Penn on March 17 to improve its record to 7-8. Kryzystof Muzalewski has been the Monarchs' primary option at No. 1 singles, drawing the No. 20 ranking in the Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Albert Ochagavia and Carlos Lopez Villa are probable to fill out the top of the lineup, while Wesley Barrett is a team-best 9-5 from the middle of the lineup. Lopez and Rodriguez are a team-best 9-2 in doubles (primarily from the No. 3 spot), with the rest of the team posting an 11-19 mark in doubles.
VCU (14-4) has won 12 of 13 home matches coming into its Saturday match against Duke. The Rams are ranked 37th in the country by the ITA. The top of the VCU lineup is buoyed by a pair of nationally ranked players in sophomore Alexis Heugas (No. 65) and Max Wennakoski (No. 122). Filip Svensson, the lone senior on the Rams' roster, is also ranked 13th in the Atlantic Region.
