ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell jumped out to a 14-1 halftime lead and cruised to a 20-8 victory over Harvard on Friday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center on day one of the 2012 USPA Northeast Regionals. The Big Red improved to 10-5 with the victory and will play Connecticut on Sunday for its 19th regional crown.

Kailey Eldredge and
Amanda Stern and each tallied their first goal to take the early lead that they would never lose. Eldredge ended the chukker leading the team with five goals as part of a 10-0 first chukker lead. Kristin Russomanno and Beth Lebow subbed in for Stern and Eldredge in the second and Cornell extended the lead to 14-1 at the half. Cornell would cruise in for the 20-8 win in the second half. Eldredge ended the game with eight goals, Hoffman had six, Stern scored three and both Lebow and Russomanno each added one.
The Big Red will face Connecticut on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. for the regional title.
