Volleyball Falls In Straight Sets To Stony Brook

Box Score BRONX, N.Y – The Big Red volleyball team opened the second morning of Fordham's Rose Hill Classic with a 3-0 loss to Stony Brook. The Seawolves used an impressive attacking game to earn the straight set victory, 25-13, 25-21, 25-21.

Cornell (1-5) was led by freshman Breanna Wong, who had the best game of her young career with 11 kills and just one error on 21 attempts for an outstanding .476 hitting percentage.  Kelly Reinke finished the match with a 20-assist, 10-dig double-double, to go along with two service aces and one block assist. Kelly Marble finished with eight digs and Janel Forte chipped in six kills.

Stony Brook (3-6) had a pair of players register double digit kills – Evann Slaughter and Melissa Rigo. The duo combined for 21 kills and just three errors on 43 attempts and were the main reason the Seawolves finished the game with a .292 hitting percentage.

Cornell is back in action this afternoon against NJIT.
