Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. – Despite snapping its scoreless draught, the Cornell men's soccer team was unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit, falling to Princeton 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers scored both of their goals in the first half, with Cameron Porter getting his team on the board early in the 16th minute. Porter split the defense on the six-yard line and beat Cornell keeper
Zach Zagorski high.
In the 28th minute, Patrick O'Neil put Princeton up by two with a high blast from 10 yards out into the far corner.
After a lengthy injury timeout on the field, Cornell picked up the pace and found the back of the net for the first time in more than three games. Senior captain
Patrick Slogic headed the ball past Princeton's keeper Seth MacMillian in the 87th minute off a
Stephen Reisert corner kick.
Slogic now leads the Big Red with three goals and two assists on the season.
With the loss Cornell falls to 6-5-4 and 0-4-1 against Ivy League opponents this season. Princeton improves to 6-7-1 and 3-1-1 against Ivies.
