ITHACA, N.Y. – The women's tennis team won its eighth straight match to start the spring season for the first time since the program started in 1973 with a 7-0 sweep of Binghamton on Friday at Reis Tennis Center.
Cornell won all nine matches on the day, starting off with the three doubles matches. The No. 2 tandem of senior
Christine Ordway and junior
Ryann Young had the best margin of victory, defeating Shea Brodsky and Alexis Tashiro, 8-2. Both the No. 1 team of sophomore
Lauren Frazier and senior
Sarah O'Neil and the No. 3 pairing of freshmen

The Big Red then rolled through the six singles matches, winning each tilt in straight sets. O'Neil dropped just two games in her match against Katherine Medianik at the No. 1 position, as did Ordway against Alexis Tashiro at No. 2. Cornell is now 44-4 in singles and 20-3 in doubles. Binghamton fell to 3-10 with the loss, with Cornell having won 13 of the 15 all-time matches between the two programs.
