2013 World Championship Results

MOSCOW – Bruno Hortelano-Roig concluded his time at the World Championships on Aug. 18 with a Spanish national team record as part of the men's 4x100 relay team.

Hortelano-Roig and his teammates finished fourth in their heat with a time of 38.46 seconds, and ninth overall but would miss qualifying for the semifinals by a mere .05 seconds.

Earlier in the championship, Hortelano-Roig advanced to the semifinal at 200 meters after breaking his own school record and setting a Spanish national record with a heat time of 20.47 seconds; .19 seconds faster than the "World's Fastest Man," Usain Bolt.  This time moved him into second on the all-time Ivy League performance list.

He posted a semifinal heat time of 20.55 and did not advance to the finals.

Though he was originally schedule to compete as a member of Spain's 4x400 relay team, Hortelano-Roig was held out so he could run his 200-meter heat with fresher legs. Depsite posting a seasonal best relay time in the opening heat, Spain did not advance in the event.
