ITHACA, N.Y. –
Hayleigh Cudmore netted a short-handed goal to help lift the No. 5/6 Cornell women's hockey team over Colgate, 3-1, on Saturday.
Paula Voorheis had 15 saves in the third period to help the Big Red (18-3-4) sweep the Raiders (7-21-2).
Five minutes into the first period,
Jillian Saulnier finished a pass from
Emily Fulton and
Cassandra Poudrier to send the Big Red up 1-0. The Raiders' Melissa Kueber tied up the game four minutes into the second period, but the Big Red answered back with an
Alyssa Gagliardi goal two minutes later. Cudmore netted the short-handed goal to put Cornell up 3-1 going into the second intermission.
Colgate's Ashlynne Rando had 26 saves while Voorheis ended the night with 24.
The Big Red will hit the road next weekend as they take on Union at 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 at Messa Rink and Rensselaer at 4 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Houston Field House.
