ITHACA, N.Y. – The women's tennis team ended a three-match slide Sunday with a 5-2 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson at Reis Tennis Center. Freshmen Alexandra D'Ascenzo and Dena Tanenbaum each won their respective singles and doubles matches for Cornell (3-3), which has now won all six of its all-time meetings with FDU.
 
Tanenbaum teamed with sophomore Christy Kung at the No. 3 doubles position, winning the first match to be completed. After Fairleigh Dickinson (3-3) fought back with a win at the No. 1 spot, D'Ascenczo and junior Lauren Frazier clinched the opening point for the Big Red with an 8-4 victory at No. 2.
 
Senior Shannon Comolli rolled to a love-love victory at No. 6 singles to quickly give Cornell a 2-0 lead. After FDU got on the board at No. 5, freshman Marika Cusick wrapped up a tidy straight-set win at No. 2 to leave the Big Red one point shy of clinching the match with the remaining three matches going to a third set.
 
Tanenbaum notched the all-important fourth point for the Big Red at the No. 1 position, rallying from a first-set loss to win handily in the third. D'Ascenzo also closed out her match in the third set at No. 3.
 
Cornell was originally scheduled to play Lafayette later Sunday afternoon, but that match was postponed due to impending inclement weather near the Leopards' base in eastern Pennsylvania. There is a possibility the match will be played at a later date.
 
The Big Red hits the road for its next action, playing at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Virginia.
