Box Score 2 ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell softball's seniors rose to the task as the Big Red split an Easter Sunday doubleheader with a 6-3 victory over Columbia in game one before the Lions answered with a 10-1, five-inning victory in the nightcap. Cornell moved to 15-23 (6-8 Ivy), while Columbia improved to 21-19 (8-8 Ivy).

Alyson Onyon worked around four Big Red errors to for a complete game victory. Onyon scattered nine hits and allowed just one earned run while striking out eight in the 6-3 win.
Prior to the game, Cornell honored its nine seniors, and once it got going it was freshman
Chloe Pendergast who set the tone for the upperclassmen. The rookie hit her fourth home run of the year to stake the Big Red to a 2-0 lead after one.
Shortly after the Lions got back within 2-1, Cornell scored three in the fifth to take control of the contest.
Michiko McGivney had an RBI double, senior
Jenny Edwards had a run-scoring single and classmate
Lauren Bucolo drove home a run on a groundout. Cornell added an insurance run with an Edwards RBI double in the sixth.
Columbia brought the game-tying run to the plate in the seventh inning, but Onyon was able to escape trouble with a strikeout with two on and two outs to pick up the first win of the series.
Edwards was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while
Meg Parker also had two hits and scored twice. McGivney was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice. For Columbia, Kayla Shimoda and Alix Cook combined for six of the team's nine hits.
Game Two – Box Score (PDF)Columbia jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three and a half innings and never looked back, exploding for 15 hits in a 10-1, five-inning victory.
Cornell scratched out five hits, including an infield single by senior
Katrina Conklin on Senior Day that got the Big Red on its feet even in the loss.
Kristan Baker drove in the lone Big Red run with a fourth inning double.
Kayla Shimoda was 2-for-3 with a home run, while both Alyssa Rodia and Shelby Unger went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Lions. Brooke Darling went the distance, scattering five hits and allowing just one run in picking up her 10th win of the year.
