Box Score 2 PRINCETON, N.J. – Cornell softball won a pair of two-run games at Princeton, but they couldn't have been any more different. In the end, the Big Red evened its Ivy record with the doubleheader sweep of the Tigers to move to 18-24 on the year (8-8 Ivy).
Despite the Big Red's sweep, Cornell was eliminated from the Ivy League South Division race as Penn won three of the first four games against Columbia to clinch the title.

Christina Villalon made sure classmate
Alyson Onyon wouldn't need to go through that again – at least in game one.
Villalon blasted a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh to break a scoreless pitcher's duel and the Big Red earned a 2-0 win over the Tigers at Class of 1895 Field.
Onyon scattered five hits in the complete game shutout, stranding a pair of leadoff doubles in both the sixth and seventh innings along the way. She struck out three and didn't issue a walk in improving to 10-9 on the year.
Junior
Haley Chambers was 2-for-3 to lead the offense, while Villalon's second home of the season turned out to be the game winner. Her blast came after Chambers, who entered the contest with one hit on the season, singled to extend the inning.
Princeton hurler Shanna Christian took the hard-luck loss, going the distance and allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out seven. Marissa Reynolds had two of the team's five hits on the day.

Sophie Giaquinto carried the biggest stick. The sophomore was 3-for-4 with with two runs scored and five RBI and finished a triple shy of the cycle as Cornell topped Princeton 8-6 in game two.

Leanne Iannucci also had two hits apiece for the Big Red.
Cornell scored three times in the first, then watched the Tigers come back with the next five only to have the Big Red regain the lead with four runs in the middle innings. The second rally was highlighted by a three-run go-ahead home run by
Sophie Giaquinto and the first inning explosion featured a two-run double by –
Sophie Giaquinto.
Meg Parker was able to bear down after allowing five runs in her first two innings before giving way to
Alyson Onyon, who continued her mastery over the Tigers. The senior went the final 3.2 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out three. Over the last three seasons, Onyon is 6-2 with a 0.75 ERA over 65.0 innings of work, allowing just 31 hits with six complete games in six starts and three total shutouts.
