Volleyball Falls To Pirates In Opening Match Of Seton Hall Tournament

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In the first match of the 2014 season, the Big Red was swept by Seton Hall, 16-25, 13-25, 12-25. Cornell will be back in action later this afternoon at the Seton Hall Invitational when it takes on UNLV at 4:30 p.m.
 
Cornell (0-1) was led by Maddy Sroufe and Emily Wemhoff with seven and six kills, respectively. Setter Alyssa Phelps handed out 19 assists and libero Natasha Rowland had a team-high 16 digs. With her 16 digs, Rowland moves into 13th place in Cornell history with 865 career digs and needs just 11 more to move into 12th place.
 
Seton Hall (3-1) was led by Stacey Manthorpe's 11-kill, 12-dig double-double, while Molly Grammer hit .529 with nine kills and no errors on 17 attempts. Shelbey Manthorpe registered 27 assists and libero Teresa Fournier tallied a match-high 19 digs.
