Box Score (PDF)

ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's hockey team got all six of its goals from freshmen, including four from Anthony Angello, to rout Laurentian by a score of 6-1 in Sunday's matinee exhibition game at Lynah Rink. Alec McCrea and Mitch Vanderlaan scored the other two goals, and the Big Red also got two assists each from Reece Willcox, Jake Weidner and John Knisley. Hayden Stewart needed to make just seven saves to earn the victory.

McCrea started the scoring at the 7:12 mark of the first period. Matt Buckles' wraparound attempt hit the side of the net, then Weidner fished the puck out from behind the net and backhanded a pass into the left circle for a wide-open McCrea. He took his time before whistling a wrist shot past the blocker of Laurentian goaltender Charlie Millen. Angello's first goal then came on the power play, when he beat a defender wide on the left wing and darted through the circle before stuffing a shot between Millen's legs to double the Big Red lead.

Angello and Vanderlaan scored on deflections just 1:24 apart in the second period, then Angello's final two goals capped the scoring. Cornell went 3-for-4 on the power play, with Angello scoring all of the goals.

Cornell's regular season will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Niagara before the team travel to Ithaca for a rematch at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Lynah Rink.
