PRINCETON, N.J. — Junior goalkeeper
Kelsey Tierney made a season-high seven saves, but it wasn't enough for the women's soccer team in a 2-0 loss to Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Stadium. It's the second straight loss for Cornell (9-3-4, 2-3-1 Ivy League), which closes its season at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Dartmouth.
Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Tyler Lussi scored her 13th goal of the season for Princeton (13-3, 6-0) in the eighth minute. Her cross then set up Jesse McDonough's insurance tally in the 60th minute to lead the Tigers to their 11th straight victory, at least a share of the Ivy League title, and berth in the NCAA tournament.
Cornell was outshot in the game, 21-5, with only
Kaylee Fitzgerald's shot requiring a save from Princeton goalkeeper Hannah Winner. The Tigers also had the game's only four corner kicks.
