Full Release by Ivy League ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior co-captain
Lindsay Toppe earned her first weekly recognition of the season from the Ivy League on Monday afternoon when she was tabbed as the co-offensive player of the week for games ending on Sunday, March 29. She becomes the third Big Red player to earn a weekly honor from the League this season.
The Big Red's top attacker had a monster game in Cornell's record breaking 23-6 victory over California on Sunday afternoon. She equaled a career-high with seven goals, as all seven of her attempted shots found the back of the net. The senior went a perfect 2-for-2 on free-positions; depositing six of her seven goals over a 9-0 scoring run Cornell used to blow the game open to begin the second half.
The seven goals moved Toppe into fourth place on the program's all-time goal scoring list with 133 career markers. She passed Katherine Simmons (128, 2005-08) and Cari Hills (131, 1995-98) with the big game. She now is just 11 goals away from tying the program record for career goals.
Toppe has followed up her Ivy League Attacker of the Year with another fantastic season. She currently is second in the Ivy League with 28 goals and 34 points overall. She has led the League in shots from wire-to-wire, posting 65 through nine games this season.
