WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- An early Monmouth run put Cornell on its heels and the Hawks never relented, evening its record with a 76-61 victory over the Big Red on Tuesday evening at OceanFirst Banks Center. The loss dropped Cornell to 1-4, while Monmouth improved to 2-2.

Cornell led 7-6 six minutes into the game before the home team took control with a 25-2 run over 6:07 that the Big Red never recovered from. Robinson hit three successive 3-pointers over the span of 56 seconds that turned an eight-point lead to a 17-point bulge as the visitors missed 8-of-9 shots, a pair of free throws and turned the ball over twice during the stretch.
