ITHACA, N.Y. – In her final game at Newman Arena, Big Red senior women's basketball player
Maddie Campbell had her best performance in a Cornell uniform, finishing with a career-high 22 points, but it wasn't enough as Ivy League leading Princeton earned the 94-57 victory.
Campbell became the fourth Cornell player this season to record 20+ points in a game, going 8-of-17 from the floor, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and converting 4-of-5 free throws. She also chipped in three steals, two rebounds, one block and one assist in 32 minutes of action.
Nia Marshall also finished in double-digits with 11 points and five rebounds, while
Kerri Moran added six points and four assists.
Princeton (21-3, 10-1) remains in first place in the Ivy League thanks to the outstanding play of Alex Wheatley and Annie Tarakchian, who finished with 23 and 20 points, respectively. Traakchian also added a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double.
The Tigers shot a blistering .673 percent overall (35-52) and .444 percent from 3-point range (4-9), while holding Cornell to just .328 percent overall (21-64) and .364 percent beyond the arc (4-11). Princeton also held the significant 41-23 advantage on the boards.
The Big Red will play its final regular season road games of the season when it travels Yale and Brown on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5, respectively.
