Cheerleading Team Claims First Ivy Classic Title

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Cornell Cheerleading team earned its first Ivy Classic title on Sunday at the Palestra. It was the first-ever cheerleading championships featuring Ivy League schools Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Penn and Princeton along with the Big Red and was hosted at the University of Pennsylvania.
 
The Big Red posted a score of 167.1, narrowly edging out Harvard's score of 167.0. Princeton came in third with a score of 162.5, Penn scored 155.85 to take fourth, and Columbia and Brown scored 143.8 and 143, respectively, to round out the competition.

"We are so proud and honored to be the first Ivy champions," said senior captain Caroline Foody. "I could not imagine a better, and more deserving, group of people and I can't wait to see what this will mean for the future of our program."

The team is lead by head coach Jamie Jett and assisted by Kevin Kowitski.
