ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red volleyball team fell to James Madison, 3-0, this morning to open the second day of the 2016 Cornell Invitational. Cornell is back in action this evening when it plays Marist at 7 p.m.
Cornell (1-1) was led by
Macey Wilson with eight kills and just two errors on 18 attempts. Both
Kit McCarty and Carla Sganerlla finished with six kills piece, with McCarty hitting .333 (6-0-18) for the contest.
Alyssa Phelps posted 17 assists, while sophomore
Gabby Goodall saw her first action of the season with six assists. Libero Libby Barber and Sganderlla finished with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
JMU (5-1) was led by Janey Goodman's 22 kills. Goodman was nearly perfect, hitting .500 (22-142) for the contest as the only Duke in double-digit kills. Setter Sarah Martin had 41 assists and libero Taylor Austin posted 27 digs.
