KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior setter
Alyssa Phelps recorded 30 assists to become just the third player in Big Red history to surpass the 2,500 career assist mark, but it wasn't enough as the Cornell volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Bradley, 23-25, 19-25, 16-25, this evening in its second game of the UMCK Kangaroo Klassic, held at the Swinney Rec Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Phelps now sits in third place in Cornell history for career assists behind Whitney Fair '06 (2,795), Vanessa Richlin '00 (2,927) and all-time leader Jen Strazza '93 (3,572).
Cornell (2-3) was led by
Maddy Sroufe's 16 kills, while
Kit McCarty and
Jenna Phelps added eight and six kills, respectively. Freshman libero
Lily Barber led the team with a match-high 12 digs.
Bradley (5-4) was led by Erica Haslag with 15 kills and Taylor Thiele with 10.
The Big Red will wrap up the Kangaroo Klassic tomorrow afternoon when it faces Nebraska-Omaha at noon.
