ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's squash team earned a weekend split with a 7-2 victory over Brown on Sunday afternoon at Belkin International Squash Courts. The Big Red opened the weekend with a hard-fought 8-1 setback against Yale.
 
Cornell (3-1, 1-1 Ivy League), which entered the weekend ranked eighth in the country by the College Squash Association, put a charge into sixth-ranked Yale on Saturday before the Bulldogs eventually pulled away. There were three five-set matches in the first two rotations, all won by Yale to clinch the match. Freshman Madison Miles accounted for the Big Red's lone point with a four-set win at No. 5.
 
The Big Red turned the tables the following day against 10th-ranked Brown to keep itself in line to be one of the final entries for the Howe Cup. Cornell opened up the match by sweeping the first rotation, then clinched the victory with wins from senior co-captain Rachel Scherman (No. 2) and freshman Colby Gallagher (No. 8).
 
Cornell continues its home stand with three matches next weekend against Drexel at 2 p.m. Saturday, Trinity at noon Sunday and George Washington at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
