ITHACA, N.Y. — The men's squash team split a pair of non-league road matches Wednesday, defeating Hobart by a score of 9-0 in the afternoon before dropping an evening match to Rochester by the same score. Cornell, which entered the week ranked 10th in the nation by the College Squash Association, is now 5-2 on the season.
Five of the Big Red's victories against 27th-ranked Hobart (3-8) came in three sets, including all three from the bottom third of the order. Senior
Augie Jones fought back to win his match in the fifth position in five sets. Cornell then shifted west to Rochester to take on the third-ranked Yellowjackets (5-1), who advanced as far as the national championship match a season ago. Freshman
Jack Greenwood (No. 4) and sophomore
Alex Jung (No. 8) had the strongest performances for the Big Red, taking their respective matches to four.
Cornell returns home for three non-league home matches this weekend. The Big Red will take on Drexel at 2 p.m. Friday, Trinity at noon Saturday and George Washington at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Belkin International Squash Courts.
