Army Takes Down Sprint Football, 55-0

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The sprint football team fell to Army, 55-0, at Schoellkopf Field on Friday night.

The Black Knights scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and never looked back to earn the commanding eight-touchdown win. Six of the scores were taken into the end zone on runs with Jake Gigliotto rushing for three of them. Jaylen Collier, Brady Miller and Ryan Sullivan accounted for the other rushing scores.

Cornell did have its bright spots during the game as the defense did not allow Army past its own 25-yard line on its first-offensive drive of the game. Towards the end of the first half, Dominic LaBell picked off quarterback Keegan West to give possession back to the Big Red.

Conrad McCarthy also blocked a PAT attempt in the second quarter to deny the Black Knights the extra point on its fourth touchdown of the evening and Dean Ames came up big, recovering  the team's onside kick attempt that kick-started the second half.

Brooks Panhans completed nine passes for 61 yards while Connor Young netted 19 yards on seven carries on the ground. Karriem Royster led the receiving corps with 38 yards on four catches.

LaBell topped the defensive efforts with 10 total tackles, including six solo, along with one pass breakup and the interception. McCarthy and Alfonso Nazzaro also notched eight tackles each.

Cornell closes out its season at home next Friday as it takes on Post at 7 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field.
