Kirsten Pienaar in the 52nd minute to lift the Big Red field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth this afternoon, handing head coach
Donna Hornibrook her 300th career win in the process. With the victory, its fifth straight against the Big Green, Cornell improves to 10-6 overall (3-4 Ivy), giving the program double-digit wins for the fifth straight season and the ninth time in Hornibrook's 14-year tenure.
The victory also tied the Class of 2018 with the Class of 2011 and 2017 as the winningest class in program history with 42 victories during their four-year career. And while the game was the final one for seniors

Sam McILwrick, it was the underclassmen that shined in the win.
Freshman
Grace Royer staked the Big Red an early 1-0 lead with a penalty stroke in the sixth minute of the contest. The visitors had numerous scoring chances in the first half, thanks to nine penalty corners in the stanza, but couldn't add to its advantage and a goal by Katie Spanos in the 34th minute sent the teams into halftime knotted at 1-1.
The play evened out in the second half, but for the contest Cornell held the advantage in shots (19-11), shots on goal (10-8) and penalty corners (11-7). Dartmouth goalie Haley Valerio finished with six saves and benefited from a pair of defensive saves.
In net for the Big Red, Johnson earned the start, made three saves and allowed one goal in 35 minutes of action before sophomore
Maddie Henry came on in relief and finished with four saves to earn the win. Johnson closes her illustrious career with the Big Red ranked eighth in Cornell history with a career goals-against average of 1.73.
