• The Cornell wrestling team will look to build on its strong start and set a program milestone on its first-ever visit to Florida when the Big Red competes in the South Beach Duals on Dec. 29-30 at Deerfield Beach Sports Complex in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

• The Big Red enters the two-day event with 799 all-time dual meet wins and could become the fourth Big Red varsity program to reach that milestone with its first team win (baseball, 1700 wins; men's basketball, 1247 wins; men's ice hockey, 1111 wins) and just ahead of men's tennis, who will break that mark this spring (798 wins).
• Standing in the way of that milestone will be a number of the top teams in the country, starting with North Dakota State and No. 8 Minnesota on Friday, followed by Kent State and No. 4 Missouri on Saturday.
• Cornell is ranked 12th nationally in the latest USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll and is 2-0 this season in dual meet competition, outscoring nationally ranked Northern Iowa and local rival Buffalo by a combined score of 63-16.
• The Big Red has set its sights high — with the NCAA Championships set for Cleveland, Ohio in March, Cornell believes it should be in the mix for yet another top 10 team finish.
• Four Big Red wrestlers are among the nation's top 20 at their weight class in the latest Intermat rankings.
• Diakomihalis leads the way as the nation's top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds.
• Classmate Max Dean sits 11th at 184, while juniors Jon Jay Chavez (165) and reigning All-American Brandon Womack (174) both sit at No. 18 in their weight classes.
• Five other wrestlers, Russo at 125 (ranked as high as No. 18), Chaz Tucker at 133 (as high as No. 17), both Ben Honis (as high as No. 15) and Ben Darmstadt (as high as No. 13) at 197 and Jeramy Sweany at 285 (ranked as high as No. 24), are also listed in other rankings.

• Cornell head coach
Rob Koll is in his 25th season at Cornell (282-89-5, .757; 111-8-1 Ivy, .929).
• Koll is the David R. Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling at Cornell.
• The all-time winningest wrestling coach in program history, Koll has guided the Big Red to 15 straight Ivy League titles (18 overall), 11 consecutive EIWA crowns and eight top five NCAA team finishes, including second twice (2010, 2011).
• He was the 2005 NWCA Division I Coach of the Year and the Dan Gable Coach of the Year.
• His wrestlers have won 14 national titles with 59 All-Americans and 59 individual EIWA champions.
ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
• The Bison are 1-4, though three of its losses have come to nationally-ranked teams (No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Iowa and No. 13 Northern Iowa), and its only win came against No. 18 Central Michigan at home.
• NDSU has a pair of ranked wrestlers in the middle weights, as Clay Ream sits No. 14 at 157 and Andrew Fogarty is No. 18 at 165.
• In addition, 133-pounder Cam Sykora has also been ranked during the season.
• The four-time NCAA Division II champions now wrestle in the Big XII and have claimed 10 Division I All-Americans.
• Seventh-year head coach Roger Kish sports a 56-47 overall dual meet record with the Bison.
CORNELL-NORTH DAKOTA STATE SERIES
• This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
ABOUT MINNESOTA
• Minnesota is off to a 3-1 dual meet start, with its lone loss at Oklahoma State (30-3) and wins over Air Force (29-6), South Dakota State (20-12) and Fresno State (38-7).
• The Golden Gophers feature five nationally-ranked wrestlers in their lineup, led by 125-pounder Ethan Lizak at No. 4.
• Also ranked in the top 10 are Mitch McKee (No. 8 at 133), Nick Wanzek (No. 9 at 165) and Tommy Thorn (No. 10 at 141), while 157-pounder Jake Short is No. 12 at 157.
• Golden Gopher alum Brandon Eggum is in his second season as head coach and 17th on the staff.
• During his time on the sidelines, Minnesota has grabbed 66 All-America honors, 27 Big Ten individual crowns and nine NCAA champions.
CORNELL-MINNESOTAÂ SERIES
• Minnesota leads the all-time series 8-3 in a series that started during the 1960-61 season.
• The two squads first met on Feb. 2, 1961, a 16-11 Minnesota win in Minneapolis.
• Cornell has won three of the last four matchups after the Golden Gophers won the first seven.
LAST TIME VS. MINNESOTA
• When
Brian Realbuto suffered a devastating knee injury in the All-America round at the 2014 NCAA championships, some might have questioned whether he would ever get back to the same level.Â
• Less than a year later, at the 2015 Cliff Keen National Duals, Realbuto upset top-ranked and unbeaten Dylan Ness 9-3 at 157, swinging a nip-and-tuck match Cornell's way in a 19-17 dual meet victory over Minnesota.
• The win ended Minnesota's string of three consecutive National Duals titles.Â
• The dual was a rematch of the 2014 tournament championship matchup, won by the Golden Gophers, 24-15.
• Sandwiched by
Chris Villalonga's 2-1 win over Jake Short at 149 and
Dylan Palacio's dominant 17-2 tech fall over No. 17 Nick Wanzek at 165, the three-match run by the Big Red sealed the victory.
ABOUT KENT STATE
• Kent State is 6-2 in dual meet action (0-1 MAC), though it has lost two straight (38-9 at Ohio State, 16-15 at Buffalo).
• Four Golden Flash wrestlers are ranked in the top four of the MAC rankings, led by No. 2 Stephen Suglio at 197.
• At 157, Casey Sparkman is third in the conference rankings, while Anthony Tutolo (133) and Nick Monico (149) are ranked fourth.
• Head coach Jim Andrassy has spent 26 years on the Kent State sideline, including the last 13 as head coach , and sports a 165-110-1 record.
• He has developed seven All-Americans, an NCAA champion (Dustin Kilgore in 2011) and produced three top 25 team finishes.Â

• This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
ABOUT MISSOURI
• Missouri is off to an 8-0 start in dual meet competition, including a top 10 win over Virginia Tech.
• The five-time defending MAC tournament champion brings in six nationally-ranked grapplers, including four who reside in the top five in their respective weight classes.
• Leading the way is second-ranked Willie Miklus at 197 and fourth-ranked Daniel Lewis at 174 and Joey Lavallee, an NCAA runner-up a season ago, at 157.
• Jaydin Eierman is also in the top five at 141, while John Erneste is ninth at 133 and Grant Leeth is No. 16 at 149.
• Head coach Brian Smith, a five-time conference coach of the year, spent five seasons as assistant coach at
Cornell under both Jack Spates and current Big Red mentor

CORNELL-MISSOURI SERIES
• Missouri leads the all-time series 7-2 in a series that started in 2002.
• The Tigers won that first meeting in Ithaca, 27-12, at Newman Arena on Feb. 23, 2002.
• Missouri also won duals in Columbia, Mo., in 2008 (21-13) and Ithaca in 2009 (18-14), took a 22-12 victory at the Grapple at the Garden in 2012 and earned wins in Ithaca in both 2015 (27-9) and 2017 (25-12).
• Cornell earned its first win over Missouri at the 2010 National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa (23-15), then
pulled out an 18-15 decision a year later at the Duals.
• The Tigers climbed out to a 25-0 lead last winter over the Big Red and cruised to a 25-11 victory at Friedman Wrestling Center.
LAST TIME VS. MISSOURI
• The Cornell wrestling team won the final three matches of the dual, but Missouri's strength early proved too much to overcome as the ninth-ranked Tigers raced out to a 25-0 lead and handed the Big Red a 25-11 defeat on Jan. 14, 2017 at Friedman Wrestling Center.

Brian Realbuto swept the weekend at 184 in place of two-time defending national champion
Gabe Dean with a major decision victory over Matt Lemanowicz to begin a string of three consecutive wins to complete the dual.Â
• Ben Honis majored Jayden Bears at 197, rebounding from a loss the previous night, as did heavyweight Jeramy Sweany, a 4-0 winner over Austin Myers.
• Missouri's first six wins of the dual all came with highly-ranked wrestlers earning wins, though only three came against Big Red starters at their natural weights.Â
LAST TIME OUT
• The Cornell wrestling team put on a show, winning 8-of-10 matches en route to a 31-6 victory over Buffalo on Jan. 18 at Mayhem on the Mainstage at UB's Center for the Arts.Â
• The win, Cornell's 799th dual meet victory in school history, ended with six straight wins - including Chaz Tucker's thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over No. 16 Bryan Lantry at 133 pounds.Â
• Freshman Max Dean opened the meet with a solid 14-3 triumph over Brett Perry at 184, followed by a solid 5-1 win for Ben Honis at 197.Â
• The Bulls won the next two matches to get back within 7-6, but Tucker's upset at 133 made sure the home team's momentum was squashed.Â
• The Big Red won by fall at 141 (Yianni Diakomihalis) and 165 (Jon Jay Chavez) to turn the close dual into a rout.
CORNELL AT THE NEW YORK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Cornell won a record 13th New York State Intercollegiate Championship on Nov. 19 at Barton Hall, crowing six individual champions.
• It was the sixth consecutive title for the Big Red.
• Cornell first competed at the championships in 1979, sending a B team to compete and finishing ninth overall.
• The Big Red won its first title in 1992, claiming six champions in the 10 weight classes.
• Cornell has won 93 individual titles over the years and 13 team titles, tied with Army West Point (13) and four ahead of Buffalo (nine).
• Other teams to have won NYS titles are Syracuse (5), Brockport (3), Binghamton (2), Hofstra (2), Columbia (1) and St. Lawrence (1).
