PHILADELPHIA — The women's squash team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-0 loss to Penn on Sunday afternoon.
Cornell stands at 8-6 overall and finished the Ivy League season with a 3-4 record, which ties the program record for most victories within Ancient Eight play. The Big Red likely remains in line to be seeded seventh for the Howe Cup, which is the 'A' Division of the College Squash Assocation's national championships. The event is hosted this year by Princeton, running from Feb. 24-26. It would be the ninth consecutive season that Cornell has qualified for the top flight of the national championships.
If current rankings hold, second-ranked Penn (13-1, 6-1) may end up as Cornell's first round opponent at the Howe Cup. The Quakers won six of the nine scoring matches in three sets.
Rachel Scherman (No. 2),
Charlotte Knaggs (No. 7) and
Lucy Martin (No. 8) all forced a fourth set in their respective matches.
