ITHACA, N.Y. — Freshman Grace Graham scored a game-tying goal with under five minutes to play against #3 Clarkson, but the Golden Knights found the winner 46 seconds into overtime to spoil the women's hockey team Senior Day on Saturday at Lynah Rink in the regular season finale. The loss ended Cornell's unbeaten streak at seven games.

Cornell took advantage of a penalty-mired first period, scoring three power-play goals in the opening stanza to jump out to a 3-1 lead entering the break.

Brianna Veerman opened the scoring for Cornell at the 6:21 mark when she corralled a cross-ice pass from freshman Kristin O'Neill at the left hash and beat Shea Tiley blocker side.

Jessica Gillham got Clarkson on the board with under seven minutes to play in the period but it didn't take long for Cornell to answer – a sign of things to come - as the Big Red went up again two minutes later.

After junior Sarah Knee and sophomore Lenka Serdar combined to move the puck into the left circle, Serdar sliced a pass across the goal mouth for Doering's finish on an open net at the right post. With under a minute to play in the first period, freshman Amy Curlew stole the buck below the goal line and then stuffed it home between Tiley's left pad and the post. The goal was Curlew's second in as many games and extended her point streak to five games.

After an uneventful start to the second period, Cornell found itself in penalty trouble and the Knights took full advantage with a power-play tally of their own, as Cayley Mercer cut the lead to 3-2 at 18:53 and then, just 13 seconds later, tied the game at 3-3.

The Knights kept pushing for the lead but senior goaltender Paula Voorheis made nine saves in the second – including six on the power-play and a great effort on a tipped shot through the slot – and nine saves in the third period to keep the Big Red in the game.

Clarkson was finally able to find the net again with 5:09 to play but just 1:03 later, Serdar caused a turnover at the red line, allowing freshman Valérie Audet to take the puck into the zone and drop it for her classmate in the high slot. Graham used the Clarkson defenseman as a screen and wristed a shot between Tiley's legs.

Cornell won the draw to start overtime, but it would be the Knights that got the first three shots on goal, with the third off of a rebound proving to be the game-winner just 46 seconds in.

Voorheis (7-6-3) finished with 25 saves while Tiley (21-4-5) had 13 and Clarkson outshot Cornell, 30-17.

Cornell ends the regular season with an overall record of 17-7-5 and 13-4-5 in ECAC Hockey play while Clarkson bumps to 25-4-5 and 19-1-2.

Next up for Cornell is the ECAC Hockey playoffs quarterfinal round. Cornell is the third seed and will host the sixth seed, Colgate, next weekend in a best-of-three series beginning Friday at Lynah Rink.
