PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 3 Yale won three of four races against No. 4 Princeton and No. 14 Cornell in the morning, and then No. 5 Harvard swept the Big Red in the afternoon on a busy day on Lake Carnegie. The race with the Crimson was originally scheduled for April 1, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
In the 91st edition of the Carnegie Cup, Yale crossed the line in 5:49.2, nearly seven seconds faster than the second place Tigers. The Bulldogs have now won the last four Carnegie Cups, becoming the first team to win four in a row since Princeton won 11 straight from 1992 to 2002. Yale was nearly as dominant in the second and third varsity eight races as well, as the order of finish remained the same for all three of the top boats.
The Tigers won the fourth varsity eight in a time of 6:05.9, ahead of Cornell's finish in 6:11.2.
After defeating Penn and Navy in the morning to earn the Adams Cup, the Crimson came back in the afternoon and improved to 5-0 on the season with a win over the Big Red in the varsity eight, crossing the line in 5:42.9.
The Crimson won all four races with Cornell.
The Big Red is back in action next weekend as it will travel to Philadelphia to battle Penn and Dartmouth for the Madeira Cup on Saturday, April 29.
