Polo Teams Back In Action Sunday At Oxley

ITHACA, N.Y. -- After more than a month break from competition, the Cornell polo teams return to action on Sunday, Jan. 21 at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red begins its march to championship season when the women meet Connecticut at 11 a.m., followed by the men facing West Shore Polo Club at 1 p.m.

The women enter the weekend sporting a seven-match win streak, including wins over Skidmore and Virginia in the Bill Field Invitational two weekends ago. As a program, the Cornell women have won 15 national titles and have advanced to the national title game six of the last seven seasons with championships in 2011, 2015 and 2016. Head coach David Eldredge, in his 33rd season directing the program, sports a 511-145-17 (.772) record.

The Big Red men stand at 7-2 with a five-match win streak in tow. Coming off a 16-4 campaign that included a trip to the national semifinals, Cornell will be eyeing the program's 12th national title. Eldredge has a 462-184-8 (.713) record in his 33 years on the sidelines for the Big Red, including 30 straight appearances in the finals of the Northeast Regionals and 15 consecutive trips to nationals, as well as the 2005 USPA collegiate national title.
