• Cornell will attempt to continue its Ivy League dominance when it opens defense of its 15 straight Ivy titles when the Big Red welcomes Brown and Harvard to Friedman Wrestling Center on Saturday, Jan. 27.
• Cornell will meet Brown at 1 p.m., followed by the Harvard dual at 3 p.m.

• Cornell brings an amazing 78-match Ivy League win streak into the weekend, and its 15 consecutive Ivy titles is already the longest streak in any sport in conference history.

• The Big Red became the fourth Cornell varsity program to reach 800 wins (baseball, men's basketball and men's ice hockey) with a 22-19 win over No. 8 Minnesota on Dec. 29, and are now 802-400-20 all-time.
• Cornell is ranked 11th nationally in the latest USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll and is 5-2 this season in dual meet competition, including wins over nationally ranked Lehigh, Minnesota and Northern Iowa.
• The Big Red has set its sights high — with the NCAA Championships set for Cleveland, Ohio in March, Cornell believes it should be in the mix for yet another top 10 team finish.
• Five Big Red wrestlers are among the nation's top 20 at their weight class in the latest Intermat rankings.
• Diakomihalis leads the way as the nation's fourth-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds.
• Classmates Ben Darmstadt (No. 6 at 197) and Max Dean (No. 11 at 184) are in All-America range, while reigning All-American Brandon Womack sits 17th at 174 pounds and Jon Jay Chavez is 19th at 165.
• Three other wrestlers, Will Koll (as high as No. 19 at 149), Fredy Stroker (as high as No. 13 at 157) and Jeramy Sweany (as high as No. 24 at 285) are also currently ranked, while Michael Russo at 125, Chaz Tucker at 133 and Ben Honis at 197 and 285, have also been listed among the top 20 during the season.

• Cornell head coach
Rob Koll is in his 25th season at Cornell (285-91-5, .755; 111-8-1 Ivy, .929).
• Koll is the David R. Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling at Cornell.
• The all-time winningest wrestling coach in program history, Koll has guided the Big Red to 15 straight Ivy League titles (18 overall), 11 consecutive EIWA crowns and eight top five NCAA team finishes, including second twice (2010, 2011).
• He was the 2005 NWCA Division I Coach of the Year and the Dan Gable Coach of the Year.
• His wrestlers have won 14 national titles with 59 All-Americans and 59 individual EIWA champions.
ABOUT BROWN
• The Bears are 2-4 on the season with wins over EIWA opponents Franklin & Marshall and Bucknell.
• Three of its four losses came by five points or less to Stanford (18-13), American (18-17) and Maryland (19-16).
• CJ Fragola, a 2017 NCAA qualifier and second-team All-Ivy selection, is 10-6 on the year and is ranked No. 16 at 184 pounds.
• Brown's other leaders thus far are 157-pounder Justin Staudenmayer (17-8), a two-time NCAA qualifier, and 165-pounder Jon Viruet (15-9), while Tucker Ziegler (12-8) is 5-1 in dual meets at 197 pounds.
• Head coach Todd Beckerman, in his fifth season directing the Bears' program, has mentored six NCAA participants and one All-American since arriving in Providence.
CORNELL-BROWN SERIES
• Cornell has a decisive 54-2 edge in the all-time dual meet series with Brown and has won 20 consecutive matchups.
• The Bears last defeated the Big Red 19-16 on Feb. 15, 1997.
ABOUT HARVARD
• Harvard is out to a 3-1 start on the year with nailbiting dual meet wins over Stanford (21-20) and Maryland (22-21), as well as a 30-6 triumph at Franklin & Marshall.
• Leading the Crimson in wins thus far is 174-pounder Josef Johnson (18-8), a two-time NCAA qualifier, and 184-pounder Kanon Dean (18-10) — cousin of Big Red assistant coach and two-time NCAA champion

• A.J. Jaffe (16-8 at 141), Nolan Hellickson (13-5 at 125), Hunter Ladnier (10-8 at 149) and Brock Wilson (12-10 at 157) are also among the EWIA's top-ranked wrestlers.
• Head coach Jay Weiss, in his 24th season coaching the Crimson, is a two-time EIWA Coach of the Year who has mentored two national champions, 17 EIWA champs and 19 All-Americans during his tenure.
CORNELL-HARVARD SERIES
• Cornell leads the all-time series 55-9 dating back to their first meeting in 1946-47.
• The Big Red has won 16 consecutive dual meets between the teams, posting an average margin of 31-9 (492-143) in those meets.
• Harvard's last win came during the 2000-01 season, a 28-13 victory in Cambridge, Mass.
LAST TIME VS. BROWN, HARVARD
• The Cornell wrestling team extended its Ivy league win streak to 75 matches with a pair of dominant performances on the road on Jan. 28, sweeping through Brown (35-8) and Harvard (33-11).
• Bonus points came aplenty from Big Red seniors against the Bears.
• Cornell earned first period falls from
Taylor Simaz at 157 and
Gabe Dean at 184 and technical fall triumphs from
Brian Realbuto at 174 and
Owen Scott at 197 to extend its Ancient Eight win streak to 74 matches.
• The Big Red trailed 5-4 heading into 141 pounds, but Will Koll started a stretch that saw seven wins in eight matches, with the only loss coming in a wild 14-13 decision for Jon Viruet over
Dylan Palacio at 165 pounds.
• Dean again earned a fall in the nightcap, a second period stick of his cousin, Kanon.
• Noah Baughman also won by fall at 125, as did Ben Honis at 197.
• Simaz also swept the day with a pair of bonus wins, including his 18-5 major over Coby Knight at 157 against the Crimson to give the visitors a lead it would never relinquish.
• Both
Dylan Palacio (165) and Realbuto (174) shook off early Crimson takedowns to claim major decision wins and Dean dominated his cousin before putting him away for his 140th collegiate victory and his 17th win by fall of the season, one off Kyle Dake's 2013 school record.
LAST TIME OUT
• Bonus points and three Big Red wins over ranked Mountain Hawk wrestlers led Cornell to a 23-14 win over EIWA archrival Lehigh on Jan. 19 at Friedman Wrestling Center.
• Will Koll (149) and Jon Jay Chavez (165) each knocked off ranked wrestlers and freshman Yianni Diakomihalis earned a major decision shutout of No. 13 Luke Karam at 141 pounds in the feature match.
• Koll was in control throughout in knocking off No. 19 Cortlandt Schuyler 4-1, followed by Chavez taking out No. 18 Gordon Wolf on the strength of a six-point first-period move en route to a 12-6 victory.
• Diakomihalis was never threatened in an 8-0 victory over Karam, his fifth win over a ranked opponent this season.
• Cornell's other two freshman hammers, Max Dean at 184 and Ben Darmstadt at 197, each added bonus points in wins.
• Dean earned a dominant 10-1 major over Andrew Price before Darmstadt clinched the win heading into the final match with a first period fall over Jake Jakobsen.
• In front of a sold-out crowd, the 11-time defending EIWA champion Big Red won its second straight dual over the Mountain Hawks.

• Cornell has won 11 consecutive EIWA team titles, the longest streak in conference history.
• The Big Red has crowned at least one EIWA champion in each of the last 16 seasons and in 26 of the last 27 years.
