ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team swept through doubles and cruised to its first dual victory of the season with a 6-1 win over Army West Point on Saturday afternoon at Reis Tennis Center.
Senior
Priyanka Shah rolled at No. 1 singles, then junior
Michelle Wang wrapped her match at No. 5 in straight sets to stake Cornell (1-1) a 3-0 lead. After Army West Point (0-1) got on the board with a hard-fought match at No. 3, freshman
Cheyenne Lilienthal clinched the match at No. 4. She finished the weekend 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles, having teamed with senior
Madison Stevens earlier in the day to close out doubles at No. 2.
Junior
Mariko Iinuma rebounded to win in three sets at No. 2 singles, then freshman
Ana Elhom wrapped up the day by winning her dual-match debut at No. 6 in a third-set tiebreaker.
The Big Red continues a four-match home stand to start the dual season next weekend, when it hosts Auburn at 5:30 p.m. Friday and NJIT at 1 p.m. Sunday.
