ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's tennis team will host a pair of matches this weekend at Reis Tennis Center, starting off with the program's first-ever meeting with nationally-ranked Auburn at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Cornell opened its dual season last weekend with a split in home matches against Missouri and Army West Point. Senior Priyanka Shah and freshman Cheyenne Lilienthal were both 2-0 in singles matches for the Big Red, which followed up a 4-2 loss to the Tigers by sweeping all three doubles matches en route to a 6-1 win against the Black Knights.

Auburn (5-0) has ascended to No. 12 in the nation after a pair of victories in the ITA Kick-Off Championship last weekend – the latter against No. 17 Miami, 4-1. The Tigers are a perfect 10-0 in dual doubles matches, and it has five players with perfect singles records as well. Jaeda Daniel is 4-0 from the No. 2 position.

The Big Red will conclude the weekend with a 1 p.m. Sunday match against NJIT. The Highlanders are scheduled to open their dual season Friday evening at Fairleigh Dickinson, having posted an 8-13 record a season ago.

Junior Rafaella Sampaio returns after playing the majority of No. 1 singles matches last year, and senior Alba Rosas Garcia had nine singles victories from the lower half of the order. This will be the fifth meeting between Cornell and NJIT, with the Big Red having won the first four by a cumulative score of 22-1.
