ITHACA, N.Y. –
Emeka Eneli was tabbed the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and landed on the All-Ivy League Second Team, while
Charles Touche,
Tate Keir and
John Scearce also earned all-league honors.
Touche was named to the first team, Keir joined Eneli on the second team and Scearce earned honorable mention.
Eneli is the second player in program history to be named the league's rookie of the year, with the other being Richard Stimpson in 1997. The recognition has been awarded annually since 1980. The freshman midfielder from Dublin, Ohio, started his collegiate career with a remarkable goal against Binghamton as time expired in the first half. Eneli finished the season second in the Ivy League in points (16) and goals (7). His seven goals on the season was tied for 11th most by a freshman in the nation.
Touche is the first Cornell player in four years to be named first-team all-league, when
Peter Chodas was the awarded the distinction. Touche led the Ivy League in points (18) and goals (8). Touche's top performance came against Harvard on Oct. 6, when recorded the program's first hat trick since 2012. His twin brother, Alex, who plays for Penn was also tabbed first-team All-Ivy.
Keir strung together an impressive freshman campaign playing on the Big Red's back line. The Mission Viejo, California, native played a total of 13 games and notched 11 starts.
Scearce was third on the team in points with 12, on five goals and two assists. The junior transfer from Yavapai College scored his first goal as a member of the Big Red in Cornell's second game of the year against St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Big Red finished the season with an overall record of 11-6 and went 4-3 in Ivy League play this season. This marked the 11th time in program history that the Big Red reached the 10-win barrier.
