#8 Women's Squash Closes Ivy Slate vs. #7 Penn, #1 Princeton

ITHACA, N.Y. – The women's squash team will have one last opportunity to improve its Howe Cup seeding this weekend, when it wraps up the regular season with matches against Penn and Princeton. The match against the Tigers will be available to watch through subscription-based Ivy League Network here.

Cornell (10-4, 2-3 Ivy League) continues to hold down the same No. 8 spot in the Dunlop College Squash Rankings that it has occupied all year, which stands as the final berth for the top flight of the College Squash Association's National Championships, also known as the Howe Cup.

Friday's match represents an opportunity for the Big Red to improve its seeding, as Penn (6-5, 2-3) sits immediately above Cornell at seventh. The Quakers split last weekend, recording a 6-3 win Saturday at Dartmouth before suffering an 8-1 loss Sunday at Harvard. Reeham Salah is a perfect 11-0 from the No. 1 position, accounting for Penn's only point against the Crimson. Julia Buchholz ranks second in team victories with a 7-2 mark from the Nos. 6-8 spots. Cornell is 26-2 all-time against the Quakers, including a pair of 9-0 losses last year.

Princeton (11-1) won its first 10 matches of the season, overtaking three-time defending national champion Harvard for the national No. 1 ranking due to its strength of schedule. But the Crimson will likely take that spot back after handing the Tigers an 8-1 loss on Saturday, which Princeton then shook off with a 9-0 win over Dartmouth the next day. Olivia Fiechter is 10-1 from the No. 1 positon, including a five-game victory over reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Sabrina Sobhy on Saturday. Cornell has never defeated Princeton in 25 all-time meetings. Senior Margaux Losty accounted for one of the Big Red's points in a 7-2 loss last year, winning in four at No. 3.
