ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's and women's polo teams are set to travel to Charlottesville, Va. this week for the 2019 Virginia Polo Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia Polo Club. Action starts from the Virginia Polo Center at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 when the Cornell men face Southern Methodist University. Cornell's women's polo team will kick off the women's side at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 against Texas A&M University.

Also in attendance in Charlottesville will be the men's and women's polo teams from the University of Kentucky. Kentucky's men's and women's teams will each face host Virginia at 8:00 p.m. following Cornell's matches. Winners from each match will face-off in the finals, with the losers playing a consolation match. Finals matches are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 (men) and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 (women).

The Cornell men's polo program owns a 5-2 record all-time at the Virginia Polo Fall Invitational, going 3-0 with wins over SMU (25-12), Texas A&M (14-9) and Virginia (15-9) en route to the invitational championship in 2016. Cornell women's polo has finished 1-1 at each of the last two invitationals with wins over Cal Poly (15-4) in 2017 and Kentucky (12-8) in 2018.
