#5 Women's Ice Hockey Completes Two-Game Series With a 3-0 Victory

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team secured another shutout win as it topped Robert Morris, 3-0, at Lynah Rink on Saturday afternoon. Junior Lindsay Browning anchored the Big Red's defensive efforts as the goaltender earned her second shutout of the season after turning away all 16 of the Colonials' shots on goal.

Following a scoreless first period, senior defender Micah Zandee-Hart opened up the scoring in the second period as she slapped the puck in from the top left of the offensive zone at 11:24. The power-play goal was assisted by senior defender Jaime Bourbonnais and junior forward Maddie Mills

Sophomore forward Gillis Frechette added in a second power-play goal at 13:32 in the final period. Leading up to the goal, junior defender Devon Facchinato took a shot which ended up bouncing off senior forward Grace Graham's stick and right to Frechette, who was waiting in the right wing. Taking the hint, Frechette quickly gained control and pushed the puck right into the net. The goal was Frechette's second of the weekend, while Graham and Facchinato's assists marked their first point of the season.

Frechette continued her successful opening weekend as she recorded the third and final goal of the afternoon. Taking advantage of the empty Robert Morris net, Frechette dumped a shot past a defender as the puck hit the post and went into the goal. Graham earned her second assist of the night as she intercepted a Colonial pass to give the puck to Frechette.

The Big Red's penalty kill unit was in full force, killing all five power play opportunities that Robert Morris had.

Overall, Cornell's offense was relentless, hitting the net with 30 total shots.
