ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 1 Big Red lightweight varsity eight defeated No. 3 Columbia to reclaim the Geiger Cup this morning on the Cayuga Lake Inlet. Cornell and Columbia have now traded victories in each of the last five seasons, with the Big Red winning in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Cornell also claimed victory in the second varsity eight, beating the Lions to the line by exactly six seconds.
Columbia opened the day with a pair of wins as it edged the Big Red in the third and fourth varsity eight.
Cornell hosts its final cup race of the season when it welcomes No. 8 Dartmouth for the Baggaley Bowl on Saturday, April 27.
