Lightweight Rowing Redeems Second Place In Varsity Fours and Eights At Head of The Charles

BOSTON, Mass. - The Cornell men's lightweight crew team delivered a pair of second-place results at the 2025 Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, earning a silver medal in the Men's Lightweight Eights and Fours.

Cornell's varsity eight crossed the finish in 14:06.584, claiming second place in a highly competitive field and trailing only Harvard. In the Lightweight Fours, Cornell's A entry also secured a runner-up finish in 15:53.737, while the B boat placed 12th.

Men's Lightweight Four
Racing from Bow 5, Cornell's A-crew established itself early, sitting second at Riverside (3:38.380) and maintaining its position through Weld (8:39.970) and Cambridge Boat Club (13:04.010) before crossing the line in 15:53.737, securing silver and finishing just behind Harvard.

Cornell's B-boat (Bow 8) rowed a composed piece throughout, staying in the middle of the pack at each split and holding its position over the final mile to place 12th and close out the event for the Big Red.

Men's Lightweight Eight
In the Lightweight Eights, Cornell set the tone with a strong opening, moving through Riverside in 3:13.471 and Weld in 7:40.703 before reaching Cambridge Boat Club in 11:38.427. The Big Red completed the course in 14:06.584, finishing second behind Harvard and ahead of Penn in third.
