ITHACA, N.Y. – For the fourth time since 2014, the No. 1 Cornell men's lightweight rowing program has posted an undefeated season after sweeping Dartmouth this morning on the Cayuga Lake Inlet, running its current winning streak to five straight cup victories.
Despite swirling and variable winds on the water, the Big Red seemed unaffected by the elements and posted dominant victories in both races. In the battle for the Baggaley Bowl, the Big Red varsity eight bested Dartmouth by more than 13 seconds, crossing the line in 5:53.6, to take home the trophy for the seventh straight season.
In the other eight race of the day, the Cornell second varsity eight crossed the line in 5:58.6, ahead of the Big Red's third varsity eight (6:05.3), and Dartmouth (6:14.2).
The morning opened with the varsity four race, in which the Cornell B crew defeated the Cornell A crew.
The Big Red will have two weeks off to prepare for Eastern Sprints, held Sunday, May 19 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
