SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Cornell women's tennis team continued its season at Syracuse over the weekend, falling to the Orange by a final score of 5-2. A loss drops the Big Red's record to 0-4 for the season prior to the team welcoming Boston University to the Reis Tennis Center this weekend.
The Big Red earned points at doubles for the first time this season, taking a pair of matches from Syracuse.
Valerie Ho and
Maria Adiaconitei won a close match at No. 1 doubles, defeating the No. 48-ranked pairing of Kim Hansen and Sofya Treshcheva, 7-6.
Michelle Deng and
Fatima El Ashram earned victory at No. 3 doubles by a much wider margin, besting Polia Kozyreva and Zeynep Erman by a score of 6-2.
In singles, Adiaconitei was the lone winner for Cornell, defeating Treshcheva in a thrilling three-set match, 6-4, 5-7, 11-9.
