NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior
Micah Zandee-Hart led the Cornell women's ice hockey team to a 5-1 win at Yale for the ECAC Hockey 2020 regular-season title, Saturday evening.

After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs got the first point on the board seven minutes into the second. Initially saved by junior goalie
Lindsay Browning, a scramble in front of the net led to the Yale goal.

Just three and a half minutes later, senior
Paige Lewis scored the Big Red's first goal of the night to tie the score, 1-1, with 9:12 on the second-period clock. Taking her initial shot from the faceoff circle, Yale's goalie saved it only for Lewis to dump the puck into the net from just outside the goalie crease. Originally receiving a pass from Zandee-Hart, Lewis skated with the puck from Cornell's defensive blue line.

With 2:34 left in the second period, junior
Maddie Mills scored what proved to be the game-winning goal during a power play. In typical fashion, Mills, Zandee-Hart and senior
Jaime Bourbonnais passed the puck around looking for the shot from the top when Mills found a spot to sink the puck into the net from the top corner of the slot.

As Yale's major penalty came to a close, so did the second period and the Big Red held the lead heading into the final period.

After assisting on the first two goals, Zandee-Hart scored her own less than two minutes into the third period. About a minute after closing the penalty kill, Zandee-Hart tapped in junior
Finley Frechette's pass from the top of the slot.

Adding to the Cornell lead, Mills tallied her second goal of the night with the midway mark yet to come. At 8:56, Mills took a pass from senior
Kristin O'Neill for the goal. O'Neill, skating from the defensive end, passed by the goal but sent the puck towards Mills with just enough power for Mills to one-touch the puck into the corner of the net.

In the final goal of the night, sophomore
Gillis Frechette added a point at 17:26. Taking the puck off a Yale offender, Zandee-Hart sent a cross-ice pass to Frechette at the top of the offensive faceoff circle. Receiving the pass, Frechette brought the puck to the slot for the final tally.

Browning saved 23 shots to help secure the win while the Cornell offense outshot Yale, 25-24.

As the 2019-20 ECAC Hockey regular-season champions, the Big Red returns home to host Rensselaer and Union on Feb. 21-22 for its final regular-season games.
