Men's Tennis Earns Round One Victory at ECAC Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2020 ECAC Indoor Tennis Championships on Friday, Feb. 14, defeating Ivy League foe Brown by a score of 4-0.

With a win on Friday, Cornell improves to 4-1 for the season and will face Dartmouth in the semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. Dartmouth defeated Yale on Friday to advance.
 
The Big Red opened things up with a pair of doubles victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Konstantin Kirovki and Daniel Soyfer combined at No. 2 doubles to defeat Peter Litsky and Teddy Van Eck by a score of 6-4. Evan Bynoe and Pietro Rimondini closed things out in doubles with a 6-3 win at No. 3, defeating Niraj Komatineni and Roger Chou.
 
Rimondini got things started in singles play, topping Komatineni at No. 5 singles in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Ayeni gave the Big Red a 3-0 advantage over the Bears at No. 2 singles, getting the best of Lam in two (6-4, 6-3). At No. 1 singles, Eero Vasa closed things out for Cornell, giving them the clean 4-0 sweep of Brown with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Jacob Walker.
