WEST POINT, N.Y. - Playing at a neutral site, the Cornell women's tennis team was defeated by Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 15 by a final score of 4-1.

With a loss, Cornell's record drops to 1-8 on the season, while Indiana improves to 6-3. The Big Red will play another neutral site match on Sunday, Feb. 16, facing Boston College in Binghamton, N.Y. at 9 a.m.

Indiana opened Saturday's match by taking the doubles point, using wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Valerie Ho and Maria Adiaconitei were defeated at No. 1 doubles by Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Jelly Bozovic, 6-3. Ashley Huang and Sarah Campbell lost to Caitlin Bernard and Alexandra Staiculescu at No. 2 doubles, 6-3.

The Hoosiers opened up a 2-0 lead following a win from Xiawei Hu at No. 6 singles. Hu topped Khary Pryce in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Michelle Deng got Cornell on the board with a win at No. 4 singles, bringing the team score to 2-1 following a 6-3, 6-1 win over Bozovic. Unfortunately for the Big Red, Indiana closed out matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, before Cornell could find wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Cornell led in both unfinished matches prior to Indiana sealing victory.
